Hey, I'm Emily! MS, RDN, LD (she/her)

My goal for my clients is to feel empowered in their bodies and to develop a trusting relationship with their bodies and with food. Because I struggled with an eating disorder while in high school, I have gotten to experience the freedoms and joy that recovery brings. I deeply understand the struggles my patients are facing, and I know that recovery is possible and achievable for anyone, including you.

Training & Experience

I have dual Bachelor's Degrees of Science in Dietetics, and Nutrition and Health from Kansas State University and have completed a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. I have experience in higher levels of care, including partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment.

Approach

I am an anti-diet dietitian. It's important to me that my patients learn how all foods can nourish them no matter what society may say. I firmly believe that all foods can fit into our diet, and I teach my patients the biological mechanisms that occur in our bodies and ways to fact check their eating disorder thoughts.

I use exposure methods and CBT techniques to adjust clients' judgments and assumptions about nutrition, movement, and health.

I like to keep sessions casual and fun-loving and oftentimes filled with humor. I am direct with my clients, as necessary, to help guide them to building a healthy long-lasting relationship with their bodies.

I meet clients where they are, and each session and client's treatment is individualized based on their varying needs, challenges, and goals. No two people are ever the same, so neither is their treatment and care.
